In order to perform this paper,we started from two problems found in the classroom environment: the demands presented by our students who have stereotyped, negative and naturalized representations about Africa and its people, as well as the restrictions presented by the history textbook as regards the African themes. For this purpose, we aim to promote the teaching of history open to the education of ethnic-racial relations that can contribute to the citizen education of the students, through identification and fight against stereotypes, discrimination and prejudiced representations on African History and the study of its contemporary socioeconomic and cultural diversity. Using as sources of information digital media pages (newspapers and websites),we offer as a didactic product a proposal for an exhibition / panel that will be useful to reflect on the representations and images of the African continent in the public space which is not present in the history textbook.Through a qualitative and quantitative observation methodology and analysis of narrative discourses and images, we will take to the classroom the possibility of reflection on issues such as racism, the building of identities and the formation of historical awareness.Thus, Frantz Fanon's concepts are indispensable for us to discuss racism; also, that one on identity of Moita Lopes, who understands that it can be reconstructed in the school space; and of the historical conscience of Jörn Rüsen.
