The transmission of the disease occurs mainly by the ingestion of raw and undercooked meats with the infecting form of the parasite. The disease presents a wide clinical manifestations that can range from ocular form, such as blurred vision to blindness, even to cere-bral form, with convulsive disorders. Symptoms these are well characterized in immunocompromised and congenital individuals. Disease progression seems to be related with both host immunological factors and genetic variability of the parasite strain. Serology is based on the search for specific antibody titers against the parasi-te. Although this model is standard, the diagnosis can be optimized, because there are challenges attributed to the use of the Toxoplasma gondii lysate. The treatment of the disease depends not only on the clinical manifestation of the patient, but also on the use of chemotherapeutic agents, which cases of adverse reactions have al-ready been described in the literature. There is currently no safe and effective vac-cine against human toxoplasmosis. The recombinant antigens were shown to be a promising tool in the selection of T. gondii antigens for diagnosis and immunothe-rapy approachment. Furthermore, prediction of antigenic epitopes and construction of multiple epitope chimeras appears to be more effective because it can provide better recognition of immune cells and induce selective proliferation of B and T lym-phocytes. These tools seem to be an option to minimize damage and economic im-pacts caused by Toxoplasmosis.openAccessToxoplasmose,ToxoplasmosisAntígenosAntigensQuimerasChimerasPerspectivas do uso de peptídeos quiméricos na prospecção de vacinas e como potencial marcador sorológico de diagnóstico para a toxoplasmosebachelorThesis
