The present study aims to discuss the evidence pointed out by the literature about the factors that interfere in the attribute of longitudinality. This is an integrative literature review, developed from January to February 2023, using the databases (LILACS), (BDENF), (MEDLINE) through the Virtual Health Library and (SciELO). For the search, the descriptors “Continuity of Patient Care”, “Primary Health Care” and “Longitudinality” were used and the crossing with the Boolean operators AND and OR. The evidence attests to the need to review the factors that interfere with longitudinality in Brazil and the consequent search to mitigate the impasses that make it impossible to materialize the attribute.
