This situation encourages residents to search for alternative spaces for the practice of leisure and recreation activities. In the city of Natal-RN this is no different. Cultural, leisure and sports environments are distributed in the eastern, southern e northern zones, while the western zone is forgotten by the public authorities. One of the districts of the west zone that suffers from public neglect is the Bom Pastor neighborhood, since for a population of 18,224 inhabitants there are only eight leisure equipments according to SEMSUR data. The absence of these spaces generates the need for children and adolescents to seek alternative spaces to socialize and/or to practice leisure activities. As justification for the choice and realization of this project, it is known that the topic is extremely relevant, since the children and adolescents of the community are currently appropriating alternative spaces and are in need of proper places that allow social relations. In this context, the paper is divided in two parts. The first is the research, that questions how the children and adolescents appropriate urban spaces. The second part proposes the creation of an open space system according to the results obtained.
