Monografia (Graduação em Geografia) – Departamento de Geografia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/62281This monograph aimed to highlight the relationship between socioeconomic conditions and the spread of infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis and dengue, in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, analyzing how the precarious housing infrastructure and the deficient access to health services contribute to the spread of these social diseases. To this end, the work used explanatory research methods focused on obtaining qualitative and quantitative data, adopting official sources, such as IBGE, SEMURB and Zoonoses - UVZ / SMS Natal, in addition to geoprocessing techniques with the QGIS and GeoDa software and a bibliographic review based on Health Geography and the concept of land use. Regarding the results, it was seen that the regions with the lowest income potential and infrastructure were those that presented the highest rates of contamination by tuberculosis and dengue. In contrast, the regions with the highest income and hospital infrastructure presented the lowest incidence rates. Therefore, it was found that both tuberculosis at the beginning of the 20th century and dengue fever today are social diseases related to social inequalities and the unequal use of territory are determinants intrinsically related to the spread of such diseases.Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/3.0/br/tuberculosedenguegeografia da saúdedoenças sociaisdesigualdadeDa tuberculose à dengue: a nova face das epidemias sociais na cidade de Natal - RNFrom tuberculosis to dengue: the new face of social epidemics in the city of Natal - RNbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::GEOGRAFIA
