Due to Brazil's education funding, much is said about the efficiency of education spending. Several studies that assess efficiency have shown some concern about the allocation of resources and whether these are associated with students' teaching-learning issues. This research aimed to analyze the efficiency of public spending on education in the municipality of Monte Alegre from 2009 to 2019 in relation to the results of IDEB. The research procedure takes place through a case study and can be considered descriptive, it has a quantitative and qualitative problematic approach, since it uses statistical methods to measure the efficiency of education spending by the DEA in order to investigate the relationship between the variables. The research also used questionnaires to identify any problems that affect the teaching-learning performance of students and which, in turn, reflect the IDEB, and identified the challenges of education during the pandemic period in schools in the municipality. The results show that School 1 and School 2 of Elementary I achieved 100% efficiency from the output-oriented DEA-BCC perspective. Schools 3, in the years 2012 and 2014, presents itself with almost 100% efficiency, reducing its performance over the years. School 4 behaved inefficiently during all the years, both being Elementary II, so there is a certain problem with elementary education in the Final Years.
