Thus, we seek to investigate the possible relations among elements of the language of the performing arts with the performance of drag queens; bringing some studies and authors that discuss theater in Brazil, through a bias that highlights the “place” of drag queen performance in our society. Discussing the importance of makeup in the construction of the drag queen and its relations and similarities with elements of the performing arts is, therefore, the general objective of this research. For methodological purposes, we have adopted qualitative research, since we consider the human experiences that relate to ethnographic, cultural, professional, and personal issues, which surround our object of study. The discursive reflection that we propose requires, as instrumental for the constitution of an analyzable database, that we make use of reports of experiences and the participant observation. As a theoretical framework, we seek a foundation in authors such as Mônica Ferreira Magalhães, Guacira Lopes Louro, Décio Rocha, Jaqueline Gomes de Jesus, Stephane Louise Damasceno and Patrice Pavis, which are evoked in the course of this work. We will also use a set of reports of the author's experiences, which took place during academic experiences and, especially, the construction of Caçandra - a drag queen, as well as his professional and personal experiences that are intertwined with the context of this research. Preliminary analyzes of the theoretical framework and applied questionnaires point to an urgent need to promote the recognition of the drag queen in social, economic, educational, and human aspects.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Teatro.
