Within this perspective, this study aimed to analyze family business succession, as well as its planning, in three publicly traded companies listed on BMF & Bovespa, their characteristics and possible conflicts. To analyze family succession, a comparative study was carried out, of a descriptive nature using bibliographic research, explaining about the events that include successors and succeeds in the companies that went through the process. The implementation of family succession allowed these companies to continue in different ways. The succession stages are presented in the work and among the main results the lack of previous organization for the succession as well as the science and professionalization of the heirs is highlighted.
