Thus, this study aimed to understand the knowledge and practices of Primary Health Care professionals on the care of people living with spinal cord injury. It is a descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach, carried out with twelve professionals who worked in a Basic Health Unit in Aparecida, Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, between November and December 2020. For data collection, the Focal Group was used and the data analysis was possible through Bardin's Content Analysis. This research was submitted and approved by the Ethics and Research Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Thus, it was perceived the lack of viability of the Clinical Protocol, the expansion of Permanent Education actions, and the conception and stability of the flow, which allows the reception of the health needs of the person living with spinal cord injury and the improvement of interprofessional communication. The unfolding of the study revealed the needs and anxieties of Primary Health Care professionals, as well as their perceptions on the care given to people living with spinal cord injury. It was also identified that knowledge of the care demands of people living with spinal cord injury is scarce, which results in fragmented care that falls short of the needs these people have.
