This is due to the fact that, in teaching text production, no time is allocated to the other stages that are part of the textual elaboration process, such as the planning stage. Given this, in this work, we aim to investigate the importance of textual planning, the first stage of written production, based on studies by authors who research this topic (Antunes, 2003, 2005, 2010, 2023; Marcuschi, 2008, 2012; Koch, 1993, 2018). After reviewing the literature, we present some pedagogical implications in the initial writing process through suggestions from researchers who contribute with activities that select and organize ideas and information in the text (Almeida, 2024; Brito, 2025; Guedes, 2009; Iliovitz, 2020; Vieira; Faraco, 2019a, 2019b). Next, we also provide writing planning activities in order to encourage the fulfillment of this first stage in the textual elaboration process. Methodologically, we adopted a qualitative and bibliographic approach in our research. As results, we understand that the planning stage before actual writing contributes to the production of a coherent, cohesive, and original text.
