Method: An analytical study of descriptive-exploratory nature, with qualitative approach, was conducted with 15 students from the Nursing School of Facisa/UFRN, city of Santa Cruz/state of Rio Grande do Norte, who actively participated in extension projects. Results: The results indicate that the reasons which led students to participate in extension activities were the financial factor, curriculum improvement, and the approach area.
