This study is classified as descriptive-exploratory, seeking to understand a phenomenon or specific problem and explore it to obtain a better understanding of it. A bibliographic research was carried out to support the study, a field survey (survey), using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The study has a quantitative approach and the sample was of a probabilistic nature composed of 360 animal guardians residing in the municipality of Sao Joao do Sabugi/RN. Through the results obtained, it can be concluded that the participants of the research have a lack of knowledge in relation to some aspects related to the theme, since it was found that most of them have difficulties to conceptualize the term zoonosis and some do not adopt measures to prevent these diseases or adopt them inappropriately.
