A less active lifestyle can result in a decrease in the level of physical activity and a lower level of motor competence. Hence the present study aims to assess whether the level of physical activity influences motor competence as measured by the Motor Competence Assessment (MCA). Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study with a convenience sample. This study involved 261 children aged between 5 and 14 years old, of both sexes, who did not have any physical and/or cognitive limitations, and whose parents allowed them to take part by signing the Informed Consent Form (ICF), completing the screening form and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) short version. Results: The level of physical activity measured by the IPAQ showed weak and significant correlations with the MCA tests. Other variables such as age, gender and BMI also showed significant correlations when compared with the MCA. Conclusion: This study exhibited that the level of physical activity positively influenced the performance of all MCA tests, and that age, sex and BMI also have an impact on the development of motor skillsAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Atividade motoraDesenvolvimento do adolescenteDesenvolvimento infantilExercício físicoChild developmentAdolescente developmentMotor skillsExerciseAvaliação do nível de atividade física e competência motora de crianças e adolescentes natalenses: um estudo transversalAssessment of the level of physical activity and motor competence of children and adolescents in natal: a cross-sectional studybachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::FISIOTERAPIA E TERAPIA OCUPACIONAL
