Adenomas Hipofisários clinicamente não funcionantes: Hemianopsia Bitemporal é o padrão mais frequente? 2018. 7 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Medicina), Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2018.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/41586INTRODUCTION: The Clinically Non-Functioning Pituitary Adenomas (CNFPA) are often diagnosed after onset of visual symptoms by compression of adjacent structures of the central nervous system. Due the complex tumor growth, the classic pattern of visual impairment, the bitemporal hemianopsia, is often challenged. METHODS: Medical records of seventy-seven patients diagnosed with CNFPA with campimetry and neuroimaging studies available were analyzed for the pattern of visual impairment, parasellar extession and tumor size. RESULTS: Bitemporal hemianopsia was not the most frequent pattern (14.3%). The most frequent pattern was the defect of at least 3 quadrants, either unilateral or bilateral in 37.7% of the patients. The sum of more severe patterns than classic pattern was found in 46.8% and parasellar extension in 67.1% of the patients. The mean of the largest tumoral dimension is 31.5 ± 16 mm. CONCLUSION: The classic pattern of bitemporal hemianopsia was not the most observed among the patients studied. The higher frequency of more severe patterns and parasellar extension indicate late diagnosis of CNFPA and greater severity of the cases.
