Identity, considered as a group of a subject's self-characteristics, suffers strong shake in its foundations once the individual become problematic; identity is not a stable and steady element anymore. Based on this premise, the aim of this dissertation is analyze the social and cultural changes on the Brazilian feminism scenario, using readeris letter published on the Claudia Brazilian magazine, considering the building of a female identity, its relation to the several social practices on the globalization context, and also the influence of the late modemity process, presented by Giddens (2002). Theoretical approach is oriented by assumptions of Criticai Discourse Analysis (FAIRCLOUGH, 2006), especially its transdisciplinary perspective. Methodologically, this work is inserted in the interpretativist-qualitative approach, inscribed in contemporary Applied Linguistics (MOITA-LOPES, 2006). Our corpus is composed by fífteen readeris letters published in the cited magazine. In order to achieve our aim, we have selected 3 letters to represent each decade from 1960 to 2010. Data show social, political and economic changes have allowed women assume roles different from those imposed by patriarchal society, breaking up with old certainties and, thus, creating new ways of positioning themselves. In this instance, this research permit us allowing that, in the late modemity, woman frames her personal identity relating it to social life, which encompass beliefs, mies, values, images and representation in woman’s relation to different identifícation and/or belonging groups.Análise Crítica do DiscursoMudanças sociais e culturaisCarta do leitorIdentidadesFeminismo.masterThesis
