The methodology adopted in this study follows the proposal of Felizardo, Nakagawa, Fabbri and Ferrari (2017), which states that a systematic review is conducted through a process that involves three phases: Planning, conducting and publishing the results. In the planning phase, the objective is defined, followed by the protocol, where the research questions, strategy, search string and sources, selection criteria and quality criteria will be defined. The second phase is the conducting phase, where the studies will be identified through the search strategy, where the data will be selected following the selection and quality criteria for extraction and synthesis. The third and final phase is through the evaluation and publication of the results. Following this methodology, during the months of September to November 2024, 22 studies were selected from the PubMed and Web of Science databases. These studies claim that AI has great potential to further advance the fight against cancer, especially lung cancer, bringing benefits such as greater diagnostic accuracy, resource optimization, and agility in the initiation of treatments. However, it faces challenges such as the limited diversity and quality of data for training, which may affect its effectiveness in underrepresented populations, in addition to ethical issues related to privacy and transparency.
