Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Gestão da Informação e do Conhecimento) - Centro de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2024.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/62511This study analyzed the process of recording and monitoring work-related accidents at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), focusing on the dynamics of its informational flow. This process enables the association of statistical, epidemiological, labor, and social data, as well as the analysis of the conditions under which the accident occurred. From 2019 to 2023, 224 reports of work-related accidents were registered, requiring the institution's attention. This number highlights the need to develop strategies to monitor the process and support decision-making based on high-quality information. These strategies, when implemented systematically and consistently, enhance the efficiency, efficacy, and, most importantly, the effectiveness of the occupational health and safety sector, which is responsible for analyzing and consequently preventing accidents. In this context, the study posed the following question: To what extent do the existing problems in the informational flow of the process for recording and monitoring work-related accidents at UFRN interfere with the quality and speed of accident analysis and the adoption of preventive measures? To address this question, the research aims to analyze how the existing problems in the informational flow of the process for recording and monitoring work-related accidents at UFRN affect the quality and speed of accident analysis and the adoption of preventive measures. Furthermore, it aims to propose measures to improve this flow, prioritizing clarity, completeness of information, and agility in the process. Specifically, the objectives are to: a) describe and characterize the informational flow in the process of recording and monitoring work-related accidents; b) identify occurrences that may interfere with the clarity and completeness of information and the speed of communication, accident analysis, and the adoption of preventive measures; and c) propose informational tools that contribute to managing the process of recording and monitoring work-related accidents. To achieve these objectives, a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory research study was conducted, based on information management within an organizational process, using a case study approach. Data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The analysis was conducted using a qualitative content approach based on Bardin (2011), complemented by data triangulation. The results revealed a lack of clarity and completeness in the information related to the stages of the process, creating barriers in the informational flow and compromising speed. Furthermore, the study identified the absence of institutional standards for task execution during the analysis stages and deficiencies in accident data communication, which hinder proper monitoring. Thus, this study proposes improvements for the investigated institution by optimizing the informational flow of the process. It seeks to establish a collaborative approach among teams responsible for analyzing and monitoring work-related accidents. The study concludes that the proposed improvements should be implemented, taking into account the identified informational needs, aligned with the use of the developed informational tools, with a focus on promoting continuous improvements.
