Regarding measures to mitigate the effects of this infection, the role of available potential preventive agents and their relationship with social, biological and health markers should be considered. This study is a scoping review with the objective of describing the evidence of the effects of vitamin D in the infection caused by the new coronavirus. Through the Periodical Portal of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level Personnel (Capes), the following electronic databases were searched: Web of Science, Medline, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), ScienceDirect and PubMed Central. The descriptors usedin the search were: "COVID-19" and "VITAMIN-D" joined by the Bolean operator "and". Primary and complete articles published in 2020 in any language were included. The findings of the research involve: the association or not of vitamin D with the risk of infection by SARS-CoV-2; the link between risk factors and comorbidities and the prognosis of the disease; and the relationship between lower levels of vitamin D and increased severity of the pathology. Therefore, there is potential benefit from maintainingadequate blood levels of vitamin D and its prophylactic exogenous use for the mitigation of the damage caused by SARS-CoV-2. However, new studies with robust methodologies are needed to deepen the study of this topic and generate new evidenceAttribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/br/Vitamina DCOVID-19BenefíciosVitamin DBenefitsAs repercussões da vitamina D na infecção causada pelo novo coronavírus: a scoping reviewRepercussions of vitamin D to infection caused by new coronavirus: a scoping reviewarticle
