The article aims to characterize the CAPES periodical Portal through an information management perspective. In that sense, it describes the Portal from the point of view of the information management procedural model of according to Choo (2006). In order to achieve its objectives, a bibliographical and documentary research was realized. The Portal was characterized based on considerations related to the identification of information needs, acquisition, organization and storage, information products and services as well as its distribution and use. Thus, a new perspective is offered that enables to understand the Portal in an environment that has not received much attention on behalf of the areas literature such as its application in the information management process. Finally, it is considered necessary to conduct future research using other theoretical information management models for the analysis of Capes Periodicals Portal to contribute to its better understanding and improvement.Portal de Periódicos da CAPESGestão da InformaçãoInformação em Ciência e tecnologiaconferenceObject
