OBJECTIVES: To verify the use of assessment scales in clinical practice in post-stroke patients undergoing rehabilitation in Brazil and to observe whether the work profile and training of the participants is associated with these variables. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was carried out with 103 Brazilian physiotherapists, registered with the professional council, working in the rehabilitation of post-stroke patients. The research data were obtained from the self-completion of an online assessment questionnaire encompassing sociodemographic, training, work regime and the use of standardized assessment scales. RESULTS: The use of instruments and methods for the assessment of biopsychosocial components were the least mentioned in the research, corresponding to less than 50% of use, while the most used were: Visual analogue scale (VAS), 6-min walking test (6MWT ), Timed Up And Go (TUG), Berg's Balance Scale (BBS), Functional Independent Measure (FIM), Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) and Minimum Mental State Examination (MMSE). CONCLUSION: In clinical practice, there is still a predominance of the use of instruments and methods for outcomes related to body function and structure.
