This study aimed to analyze the tannin concentrations present in the Mimosa caesalpiniiaefolia Benth bark as a function of age and its potential for water treatments. The husks were collected in the city of Macaíba/RN, air dried, ground and classified, using the portion that went through a 16 mesh sieve. In the extraction, 25g of bark in 250 mL of water were used. The obtained extract was sieved and filtered, then the total solids content, Stiasny index and the content of condensed tannins were determined. The water treatment was carried out by turbidity analysis to determine the efficiency in removing unwanted particles. The aqueous part was prepared using effluent collected in the weir of the Escola Agrícola de Jundiaí with different proportions of aluminum sulphate Al2(SO4)3 and tannin, placed in a beaker and placed at various levels of agitation in the jar-test, carried out in the chemistry laboratory of UFRN. The content of condensed tannins in the bark of the thrush decreased over the years, since at six years of age the thrush presented its highest level of tannins in the bark (8.38%) and decreased in the following years.
