So, analyzing the sphere of this historical event in Natal, the research had, as a general objective: Develop a proposal to discuss the concepts of Local History, LGBTQIA+ and Human Rights as a strategy to combat phobias through the institution of ethical values and knowledge necessary to student training from the Kengas Ball. From this perspective, the specific objectives were: Understanding local history, based on elements of students' daily lives, relating education for human rights to local historical experiences; Understand the historical-cultural significance of the traditional “Baile das Quengas” in Natal/RN; Prepare the insertion of the “Baile das Kengas” event in the classroom, demystifying the historical subjects, considered “excluded”, giving it a new subjectivity and promoting the interaction of LGBTQI+ students by placing them as historical subjects in the narratives. The methodology was carried out in three stages. The first, through an in-depth interview with the event promoter Luís Antonio Belmont (Lula Belmont), following the criticality criteria of oral history. The second was a histographic analysis of Jornal Tribuna do Norte from 1983 to 2023. And lastly, the use of a didactic sequence with 2nd year high school students at Colégio Paulo Freire, taking into account their participation and testimony to starting from the analysis of old images of the city of Natal, until arriving at the Baile das Kengas event. Given this context, it was proposed to create a serial album with the students, as the final product of the dissertation, with the aim of giving new meanings and historical contexts to characters and events from a local to a general sphere.
