By understanding information management as a process, we used the methodology of mapping with flowcharts associated with a detailed survey of information needs and legal requirements. It is assumed that GI can be understood through four steps: the information needs and requirements, the search / acquisition of the information, the way to distribute it, as well as the understanding of the use. The information base, the information flow, the process management and the public management environment are adopted as theoretical bases. To reach the objectives, a qualitative approach was used, classified as a descriptive-exploratory research. Strategically, the methodology of intentional case study was used, since the research was developed at UFERSA. It is an applied research, since the results obtained can be used for the improvement or implementation of solutions to specific problems of the institutions.
