The latter has fundamental importance to ensure the functionality of the structure and its conditions of use. In this context, it is noted that concomitantly with the development of materials and building systems, as well as the adoption of increasingly slender and flexible structures, there is a tendency for them to also be more susceptible to excessive vibrations to generate discomfort to users and even structural damages. The Brazilian code that deals with the design of concrete structures, ABNT NBR 6118:2014, provides for meeting the serviceability limit state of excessive vibrations through a simplified methodology that consists of setting minimum values of natural frequency for avoiding resonance in the structure. However, recent studies have concluded that the NBR 6118:2014 requirement is not sufficient to avoid annoying vibrations. Thus, this work proposed to study different criteria for evaluating vibrations in structures established by international codes and design guides to compare them with the method proposed by the Brazilian standard. For this purpose, a slab was computationally modeled to obtain the results of the modal analysis - natural frequencies and mode shapes - and the simulation of dynamic actions caused by the movements made by people, such as walking and dancing, to obtain the dynamic responses of the slab.
