Currently, in operation and with a vital social function, the biomedical university residence at UFRN presents a series of technical and functional problems that hinder its use. The difficulty of access and the isolation between the building and its surroundings, together with the lack of accessibility, highlight the need for changes in the physical structure of the site. Therefore, this work proposes a new configuration for the housing space, aiming to promote the collectivity and the relationship between its residents, the building, and its immediate surroundings. For the development of the project, a theoretical-conceptual deepening was initially carried out on the theme and on the architectural variables involved, through bibliographical research and studies of design references. Then, the architectural programming was developed together with the definition of design dilemmas and the scope of the project. With the help of the curricular components of the course and various forms of recording, such as sketches, physical models, and drawings using software, the design process encompassed the study of constraints, the creation of a concept, the definition of the architectural approach and the evolution of the proposal, going through the stages of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. The proposed building is designed as a mixed-use structure, incorporating prestressed concrete and steel in its conception. It consists of five floors: a basement level connected to the Health Sciences Center (CCS) garage, a ground floor connected to Aderbal Figueiredo Street with a common area and garden, and the second, third, and fourth floors housing the residential units. The rooftop is designed as a technical space for rainwater and solar energy harvesting. All floors have been developed according to the program and concepts outlined in the report. Ultimately, the proposal aimed to achieve integration at different levels, compliance with legal requirements, optimization of access points, and promotion of accessibility.
