The research analyzes the relationship between handicrafts and cultural tourism in the context of Rio Grande do Norte, highlighting how these activities complement each other and contribute to the appreciation of local culture. The methodological procedures adopted consisted of a bibliographic and documentary survey, as well as secondary data on formal work in the handicrafts sector in Rio Grande do Norte. The main results pointed to a drop in employability in the sector during the pandemic period and its gradual recovery in subsequent years, although at a lower level than that reached in 2014. The drop in the number of workers was accompanied by a tendency to absorb labor in lower wage brackets, especially those with remuneration of up to one minimum wage.
