A história petrificada do "País de Mossoró": proposta de plano de proteção patrimonial para o centro histórico. Orientadora: Anna Rachel Baracho Eduardo Julianelli. 2024. 125 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo) - Departamento de Arquitetura, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2024.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/58937In recent decades, the city of Mossoró has been facing the demolition and continuous disrepair of old buildings considered to be of heritage value, due to insufficient enforcement of laws that guarantee their permanence. At the same time, certain areas that do not have significant architectural representation receive due maintenance and requalification by the municipal public authorities, taking into account their tourist and commercial appeal. Thus, the work aims to develop a heritage protection plan for the Centro neighborhood of the city of Mossoró-RN, in order to safeguard the memory of an era and encourage updates to the municipality's legislation. To this end, we used the theoretical contributions of Carlos Lemos (1981), Françoise Choay (2001), Philippe Panerai, (2006), Leonardo Castriota (2009), Paula Silva (2012), Flavio Carsalade (2014), and others, who discuss the protection of cultural heritage and the specific concepts related to the theme. Furthermore, the realization of field surveys in the historic center of the city, with the support of inventory sheets and photographic records, is relevant for investigating the processes of valuing Mossoró's cultural heritage. With this instrument, it was possible to verify aspects related to the external physical structure of the buildings in the Centro neighborhood. One hundred and forty-nine properties of heritage value located in the study area were identified, the majority of which were classified as modified – which is no different from the reality of other territories that do not receive due protection of architectural heritage by management public. In this way, the heritage protection plan sought to bring other perspectives to the historic center, in order to understand the specificities of each location and outline guidelines that would bring compatibility between urban dynamics and the historical, cultural and architectural value existing in the sectors.
