This study is an integrative review whose aim was to identify complications and nursing care in the administration of vasoactive drugs to critically ill patients, according to the scientific literature. A search was carried out in the journals Pubmed, Medline, LILACS, ScienceDirect and Web of Science, from 2019 to 2024, obtaining a sample consisting of 07 publications. The manuscripts cite the following as nursing care for the safe administration of vasoactive drugs: early initiation and weaning, monitoring the insertion site every 2 hours, not exceeding administration in a peripheral venous catheter for more than 24 hours, construction and implementation of an evidence-based protocol for cases of vasoactive drug extravasation and, in order to carry out all this care, the training of the multi-professional team, with a focus on the nursing team. It is therefore up to health professionals to provide quality care, with a focus on reducing adverse events through the use of various evidence-based practices. This theme explores critical aspects of health care in the administration of vasoactive drugs, with direct implications for patient morbidity and mortality.
