Inadequate solid waste disposal practices occur at all levels of urban centers, from the most complex to the least populated. The inappropriate disposal of this solid waste also happens in the municipality of Cruzeta/RN, located 220 km from the state capital, located in the northeastern semi-arid region under the domain of the caatinga biome. Given this scenario, the need for basic knowledge of these Final Waste Disposal Areas (ADFR) is essential for integrated management to occur. Thus, this work aimed to carry out a preliminary environmental impact assessment of the final disposal area of solid urban waste in the city of Cruzeta, based on field visits and application of a social perception questionnaire. The applied methodology aimed to organize, analyze and evaluate the information and data collected, through bibliographic surveys, field visits and questionnaire application. The present study demonstrated that currently, there is a municipal institutional involvement aiming at the necessary measures for the adequacy of the ADFR and for the selective collection actions in the urban area of the municipality, however, the population lacks a base work, which encourages the collection selective. The impact assessment showed that the physical, biotic and socioeconomic environments in the ADFR are seriously affected, especially the trinomial soil/water/plant with direct implications for the quality of surface and groundwater.
