Acesso em: 11 dez. 2020.1808-0936https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/31093This paper presents a geodetic methodology developed for survey, generation and assessment of coastline (CL) and Digital Elevation Models (DEM) of sandy littoral and a case study in a barrier island system of sandy beaches and intermittent tidal channels of the Northern Coast of Rio Grande do Norte State, Northeast Brazil, environmentally sensitive and characterized by intense coastal erosion/accretion in oil activities. The methodology allowed thedetermination of CL and DEM from geodetic coordinates and orthometric heights with accuracy of a few centimeters regarding to the Brazilian Geodetic System (BGS), from positioning and leveling by GPS on relative way. The main features of the proposed method are the precision, the use of CL indicator specific for analysis of coastal dynamics and the use of geodetic references (geographic and altimetric), which are univocal, fixed and relatively stable over time.
