This is a scoping review, carried out in July 2023, using 12 national and international data sources. 22 studies were included, predominantly those published in Brazil, from 2011 to 2023, according to the JBI Clinical Online Network of Evidence for Care and Therapeutics (COnNECT+). The use of music was most frequently observed in clinical areas linked to pediatrics, intensive care units (ICU), general surgeries, cancer patients, neurological disorders, otorhinolaryngological cases, palliative care, relief of symptoms such as pain and improvements in vital signs. It is concluded that musical intervention stands out in pediatric areas, in newborns, children and hospitalized adolescents, achieving better results in this age group, due to the ease of concentration when listening to the sound, the disconnection from the environment in which they are located, thus promoting the reduction of anxiety, depressive symptoms and reduction of pain as well as vital signs.
