Methods: This is a descriptive-exploratory, cross-sectional, quantitative study conducted with women hospitalized at the Ana Bezerra University Hospital, RN, Brazil. The sample consisted of 165 women. Data collection occurred between June 2024 and February 2025 through interviews applying the scale and medical record reviews. Variables included sociodemographic and obstetric aspects. Statistical analysis used Pearson’s chi-square test and Odds Ratio. The study was approved by an Ethics Committee. Results: Among the 165 participants, a significant association was found between risk of postpartum depression and higher education level (p = 0.015), unplanned pregnancy (p = 0.006), negative perception of physical health during pregnancy (p = 0.001), prior use of psychotropic medications (p = 0.005), history of psychological or psychiatric follow-up (p = 0.001), and lack of social support (p = 0.019). Prenatal care performed in low-risk services was also associated with a lower chance of depression (p = 0.018). Maternal age, marital status, race/color, number of prenatal visits, parity, and financial situation were not significantly associated with depressive symptoms. Final considerations: Social and obstetric factors influence the risk of postpartum depression, highlighting the need for early screening and comprehensive care for maternal mental health.pt-BRAttribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/Depressão pós-partoPeríodo Pós-PartoEscala de Depressão Pós-Parto de EdimburgoAssistência Integral à Saúde.Risco de depressão pós-parto associada a fatores sociais e obstétricos: aplicação da escala de depressão pós-parto de edimburgoRisk of postpartum depression associated with social and obstetric factors: application of the edinburgh postnatal depression scalebachelorThesisCIENCIAS DA SAUDE
