This study investigated the ecological and structural factors influencing sleeping site selection by Callithrix jacchus in a natural environment. We tested two hypotheses: (1) marmosets select sleeping sites with specific structural characteristics; and (2) sleeping site choice is influenced by proximity to food sources. The research was conducted in the Floresta Nacional de Açu (RN), from February to December 2024, through systematic observations of three habituated groups of marmosets: Água, Bosque, and Torre. A total of 51 sleeping sites were identified, resulting in 78 occurrences, of which 27 were reuse events. For the three groups studied, canopy cover, sleeping site visibility, and trunk circumference were key structural characteristics associated with site selection. In addition, the Bosque group selected taller trees located closer to food sources. Although differences were observed among the groups, the results support both hypotheses: structural attributes of trees and proximity to feeding resources are decisive factors in the selection of sleeping sites by C. jacchus. These findings highlight the importance of habitat conservation to ensure the survival and well-being of the species in semi-arid environments.pt-BRAttribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/CaatingaFontes alimentaresLocais de dormirSaguiSegurançaFood sourcesSleeping sitesMarmosetSafetyUm estudo sobre a utilização de locais de dormir por Callithrix jacchusbachelorThesis
