Estilo de vida minimalista: como reduzir o consumo fomenta a diminuição de impactos ambientais negativos. 2021. 67f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Engenharia Ambiental) - Centro de Tecnologia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2021.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/37142The capitalist production system shapes the individual to be adept at a consumer society. This, in turn, exudes a completely unsustainable lifestyle for the environment, encouraging consumerism and practically ignoring the negative environmental impacts caused by the action and the consumer goods industry. With the increase in concerns about sustainability, it becomes increasingly evident, if not urgent, the need to promote and adopt practices that counteract exacerbated consumption, so that development is in line with the conservation and preservation of the biosphere. In this context, the ‘minimalist lifestyle’ emerges as a movement that opposes consumerism, combining the discussion of topics such as health, well-being and the environment. The minimalist movement, therefore, defends that one lives only with the essential, assuming that happiness is not in things and in the act of possessing, as the consumer society implicitly proposes. However, studies dedicated to analyzing movement as a principle of a more sustainable life are still scarce. Thus, the objective of this work was to elaborate a bibliographic review on the theme "minimalist lifestyle", proposing a strand focused on the environmental theme and identifying negative environmental impacts fostered by consumerism, related to the consumer goods industry, through the branches textile (fashion), food and personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics (HPPC), to analyze how the adoption of minimalism on a significant scale is capable of contributing to the reduction of these impacts. As the analyzed studies indicated that reducing consumption is fundamental for the conservation and preservation of the planet, with minimalism being efficient for such reduction, the thesis defended became valid.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/ConsumismoConsumerismIndústria de bens de consumo.Danos ambientaisDesenvolvimento sustentável.Minimalismo.Consumer goods industry.Environmental damageMinimalismSustainable developmentEstilo de vida minimalista: como reduzir o consumo fomenta a diminuição de impactos ambientais negativosbachelorThesis
