Objective: Identify weaknesses and strengths in the execution of actions by Patient Safety Centers in Brazilian maternity hospitals according to scientific literature. Methods: This is an integrative review of scientific articles from the virtual library of the Scielo and BVS websites, using the RAYYAN (Intelligent Systematic Review) program, which selected a total of 24 texts published between 2014 and 2023, predominantly cross-sectional and 8 quantitative studies, with a greater concentration in the Northeast region. Results: Among the weaknesses identified, the lack of knowledge about reportable incidents, the structural deficiency of maternity hospitals, the deficit of human resources and ineffective communication stand out. On the other hand, the use of tools such as protocols and quality indicators was pointed out as a potential to strengthen patient safety.
