This approach serves as a pillar in the definition of circular economy concepts. Reuse may be considered at the end of a product life cycle and/or waste generated during its production. One way to add value to these materials, considered useless, is to use them as new inputs in production chain, generating new uses for them. One possibility was studied in this work is the insertion of the studied material as reinforcement in composites. In this work, we study the behavior of composites made of polymeric matrix (polyester) using synthetic textile industrial wastes from a tire industry, whether or not combined with fiberglass. The manufactured composites were characterized in terms of their mechanical properties by performing the destructive tensile test. Finally, the results obtained were used to evaluate the applicability of the materials as well as to analyze the percentage savings if the textile is used as a partial substitute in some fiberglass applications. The composites were considered economically viable, but with low mechanical performance.
