They offer an inclusive and democratic environment where people of all ages and backgrounds can access information and participate in educational and cultural activities. With the growing environmental challenges, such as climate change and ecosystem degradation, libraries can promote actions and services that contribute to sustainability. The Nivaldo Monte City Park Library exemplifies an institution that integrates sustainability into its operations and programs. This study investigates the sustainable actions of this library and its contribution to environmental awareness in the community. Its general objective is to analyze the Library's sustainable initiatives and assess their impact on promoting environmental education. The methodology includes bibliographic, documentary, and exploratory research with a qualitative approach through a case study with non-participant observation at the Library in question. The research is based on a literature review and semi-structured interviews to document and analyze these actions. It finds that the analyzed Library adopts sustainable practices, such as efficient resource management and recycling programs, in addition to organizing educational programs on environmental awareness. By highlighting the initiatives of the City Park Library, the study provides a replicable model for other cultural institutions. It concludes that public libraries have the potential to influence behaviors and attitudes toward the environmentpt-BRAttribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/Bibliotecas públicasSustentabilidadeEducação ambientalPublic librariesSustainabilityEnvironmental educationBiblioteca pública no Parque da Cidade: promovendo sustentabilidade e educação ambientalPublic library in the City Park: promoting sustainability and environmental educationarticlehttps://doi.org/10.18764/2526-6160v24n2e25276
