Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/64366This study aims to describe the experience of a Public Health student in the budgetary executive sector of the municipal administration of Natal-RN, highlighting the stages of the budget cycle and the execution of expenses in the Municipal Health Department. In addition, it discusses the importance of knowledge about budgetary management of the SUS and the role of the Bachelor in Public Health in this context to strengthen municipal public health management. The methodology is descriptive and based on an experience report, and was carried out between 2023 and 2025 at the Health Department of Natal. During the internship, the student prepared and analyzed documents such as commitments, declarations and cancellations, always aligned with budgetary laws, such as the Annual Budget Law and the Multi-Year Plan. The results showed that the budget cycle involves preparation, discussion, execution and control. Practical experience revealed that the execution of expenses depends on factors such as the correct preparation of the budget allocation, issuance of tax documents and legal compliance. Participating in meetings and preparing documents helped the student understand the dynamics of the sector, highlighting the importance of the technical and legislative knowledge of the Bachelor of Public Health for management. The discussion reinforces that mastery of the budget cycle and regulations is essential for effective management of health resources. The professional's multidisciplinary training favors integrated actions, promoting greater efficiency and transparency in public management. The experience also highlights the need to increase the presence of professionals with this training in public administration. Finally, practical experience showed that understanding the budget cycle and related laws is essential to ensure the correct allocation of resources.
