In nowadays context, a necessity of innovation regarding the methods of teaching has surged, allowing space to more interactive methods focused on participation such as Active Methodologies, which has emerged, since the antecedent century, as an efficient approach over traditional methods. The current bibliographic reference study approaches the contribution of some of these methodologies, as for instance: Design Thinking, Gamification, Blended Learning, Task Based Learning (TBL), and Project Based learning, highlighting how these ones may contribute on a more dynamic and effective learning process, as these methodologies immerge students into a more interactive way of learning, encouraging collaboration, autonomy and the use of the target language in real contexts. This qualitative research (Denzin e Lincoln, 2006), characterized as a bibliographic approach (Gil, 2002), aims to investigate the use of active methodologies in ESL teaching and its fruition in order to achieve a more effective acquisition of the language, answering the following research questions: What are the active methodologies applied in teaching ESL? (ii) How do these methodologies contribute to improving students’ learning? (iii) What challenges and benefits are associated with implementing active methodologies in ESL teaching? The results collected point that the adoption of active methodologies in ESL teaching turns to transform the experience of acquisition of the language, preparing students for a more qualified and practical use of English through the intense interactivity, presenting benefits in many aspects, especially in a global context.Metodologias Ativas em Inglês como Segunda LínguaLíngua InglesaInglês como Segunda Língua (ESL)Design ThinkingGamificação no Ensino de Inglês como Segunda LínguaSala de Aula InvertidaAprendizagem Baseada em Equipes (TBL)Aprendizagem Baseada em Problemas (ABP)Team Based Learning (TBL)Problem Based Learning (PBL)English LanguageGamification in English as a Foreign LanguageBlended LearningO auxílio de metodologias ativas no ensino de ESL e sua contribuição para um aprendizado mais eficientebachelorThesis
