Thus, actions to improve the quality of reprocessing of health products are essential for the promotion of patient safety. This study aimed to improve the quality of preparation and storage of reprocessed materials in a Basic Health Unit located in the Federal District. This study is action research, with quasi-experimental design, before-after type without control group, carried out from March to October 2021. The quality criteria were based on the norms in force in Brazil, 60 samples of reprocessed materials were evaluated before and after the implementation of the improvement actions that were elaborated through the application of an Affinity Diagram and planned in a Gantt Diagram. The data from the first assessment was collected before the start of the planned improvement interventions and then re-evaluated after the actions were carried out. We calculated the point estimate with the 95% confidence interval, the absolute and relative improvement of each criterion to verify whether or not there was improvement in the quality level. We evaluated the statistical significance using the Z-test. This research was approved by the research ethics committee (CAAE: 51321721.8.0000.5292). We identified a 53.2% increase in absolute improvement and 92% increase in relative improvement in criteria compliance, and a 95.1% reduction in cumulative non-compliance compared to the first assessment.
