Through the survey of studies on the subject, it was found that the restriction of knowledge production on the importance of literature in the life of the child, from the perspective of parents. This context was opportune to delimit the present monographic work, based on the exploratory research, through the practice of a questionnaire, filled by 05 mothers of children of level IV, level IV of Early Childhood Education enrolled in the Escola Ambulatório Padre João Maria, located philanthropic institution In the neighborhood of Tirol, Natal / RN. To analyze the data, we used literature studies and the development and learning processes. In this process, it was possible to verify that parents are aware that reading literature is very important for the process of learning and development of children.
