Thus, the present study aims to describe and qualify health preceptorship and the role of the professional who exercises it; identify the strengths and weaknesses perceived by preceptors when exercising preceptorship in university hospitals at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte; and discuss management strategies for facilitating teaching-service integration and optimizing the preceptor's work process, using analysis through a SWOT matrix as a method.
