This study aimed to verify and describe the participation of local management and society in the beach nourishment process, with an emphasis on associated risks. Using a qualitative approach, interviews were conducted with involved stakeholders, revealing concerns about environmental and socioeconomic impacts. As a result, it was found that the proposed works include the deposition of sediments to increase the sandy area by up to 100 meters at low tide. However, the interviewees pointed out criticisms regarding the lack of detailed studies on the impacts on marine fauna and seabed morphology, as well as the absence of a clear plan to mitigate the identified risks. The discussion of the results highlighted the need for continuous monitoring measures; previous experiences on other Brazilian beaches show that similar projects require constant maintenance to combat erosion and maintain effectiveness over time. Less invasive alternatives were not considered in the decision-making process.
