Consumo de alimentos ultraprocessados por adolescentes com sobrepeso e obesidade. 2018. 39 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Nutrição) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Departamento de Nutrição. Natal, RN, 2018.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/40081The increase in the consumption of ultraprocessed foods and beverages in adolescence has been considered one of the modifiable factors that contribute to the increase in the prevalence of obesity and the appearance of chronic diseases in the adolescence, in addition to potentiate their aggravations in adult life. The objective of this study was to present a record of the consumption of ultraprocessed foods by overweight and obese adolescents according to sex. This is a cross-sectional study involving 50 adolescents aged 10 to 18 years who were overweight / obese treated at the Pediatric Endocrinology Outpatient Clinic of the University Hospital Onofre Lopes, Natal / RN. Anthropometric nutritional assessment (weight, height and BMI) and food and dietary intake data were collected from two 24-hour reminders. The characterization of the sample was presented in descriptive statistics by absolute frequency, simple and in percentage. The lists of ultraprocessed foods consumed were presented in absolute frequency. Thus, it was found that female adolescents have more frequent snacks (biscuits and snacks) (48%) and sugary drinks (chocolate, powder for soft drinks and soft drinks) (40%). The most commonly consumed ultraprocessed foods were males, with a higher preference for snacks (54%), sweetened beverages (38%), and sausages (ham and mortadella) (20%). The consumption of this type of ultraprocessed food contributes to the increase of the energy density of the diet and the contents of sugar, saturated fat and trans fat, and reduction of fiber and potassium contents. It is also known that diets with high energy density compromise the ability of the human body to regulate the energy balance, increasing the risk of excessive weight gain. Conclusion: Among the ultraprocessed foods with the highest frequency of consumption, the most notable were snacks and sugary beverages in both sexes. In the male sex, the consumption of sausages also showed a prominent frequency.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Consumo de alimentosAlimentos industrializadosAlimentos ultraprocessadosObesidadeSobrepesoAdolescentesConsumo de alimentos ultraprocessados por adolescentes com sobrepeso e obesidadeConsumption of ultraprocessed foods by adolescents with overweight and obesitybachelorThesisNutrição
