This non-pharmacological method of pain relief has often been used in childbirth care by multiprofessional staff assisting parturients in labor, but greater knowledge about the use of this technology is still needed. In view of this, training of the multiprofessional team in service was carried out and a Standard Operational Protocol was constructed with the purpose of clarifying the indications and the correct way of using the Swiss ball. The goal was to train 100% of the multiprofessional team, however, up to the moment they were trained, 63% of nursing professionals, 40% of social workers and 25% of nutritionists. It should be emphasized that there was no participation of obstetricians. Although the established training goal was not reached, the strategy of educational activity in service with the multiprofessional team proved to be of great value, since it allowed the participants' dialogue about the party and extended the capacity for critical analysis of those involved, agreeing on commitments and thus improving childbirth care in the MAIP. The strategic actions carried out in this intervention are subject to continuity and should be shared by all those involved in the assistance with a view to strengthening good practices.Trabalho de Parto.Labor.
