Therapy for this type of disease is complex and involves many side effects and toxic effects, especially cardiovascular ones. In this perspective, the objective of this work is to develop a manual on antineoplastic drugs of the anthracycline class with an emphasis on cardiotoxicity for the Oncology Service of the University Hospital Onofre Lopes. A documentary, descriptive research with a qualitative approach was carried out. To prepare the content of the manual, the study was divided into two stages. In the first stage, the drugs that would be part of the manual were defined. In the second stage, a literature search was carried out in order to theoretically support the manual. For each drug in the anthracycline class, information was analyzed and extracted, which was later organized in the form of a manual containing the following topics: generic name, commercial names; mechanism of action; indications; usual doses; dose adjustment for renal and/or hepatic impairment; mode of administration (route of administration, reconstitution, dilution, stability/storage, infusion rate); main interactions; important remarks; recommendations for cardiovascular toxicity. The manual was finalized with 43 pages containing information on daunorubicin, doxorubicin, epirubicin and idarubicin. Its structure contains the following topics: presentation, purpose and description, as well as a summary and list of abbreviations and acronyms.
