These include musculoskeletal disorders, exposure to chemical and biological agents, and social vulnerability. Therefore, discussing the occupational risks that Brazilian waste pickers are exposed to in their work activities is necessary to improve the 3CUADERNOS DE EDUCACIÓN Y DESARROLLO, Portugal, v.16, n.8,p. 01-12, 2024well-being of this population. Objective: To map and identify research conducted on the occupational risk factors related to the work process of waste pickers in Brazil. Method: This is a scoping review protocol (Open Science Framework registration: 10.17605/OSF.IO/8M3BZ), developed according to the methodological recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) and the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) checklist. The review question is guided by the PCC acronym: What are the occupational risks (concept) evidenced in the scientific literature that Brazilian waste pickers (population) are exposed to during their work process (context)? Searches will be conducted in the Lilacs, Scopus, and PubMed databases, as well as in the grey literature. Subsequently, two reviewers will independently select studies by reading the titles and abstracts of the materials found in the searches. Disagreements will be resolved by a third reviewer. Data will be extracted using a specific form and organized in Microsoft Excel 2016, where they will be analyzed descriptively. Findings will be presented in tables, charts, and flow diagrams to achieve the objective of answering the review question.
