Monografia (Especialização em Residência em Tecnologia da Informação) - Instituto Metrópole Digital, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2024.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/57622Web accessibility is the quality of enabling access to content and services in online software applications for people with disabilities, ensuring autonomous and independent use. As a public service, the systems developed for the Tribunal Superior do Trabalho (TST), the highest instance of Brazilian Labor Justice, need to be accessible and therefore must undergo accessibility assessment, which can be performed either partially or, sometimes, entirely through automated ways. In the development of Potius – an application for monitoring TST sessions – the initial automatic accessibility verification used ASES, an evaluator from the Federal Government, based on eMAG, the Brazilian government standard that is outdated compared to the international standard WCAG. This work aims to propose instruments for automatic accessibility assessment as alternatives to that used in Potius development. To this end, the compatibility of the ASES assessment criteria with the WCAG was investigated, five alternative tools were chosen for comparison with the Government evaluator, consulted with academic literature and comparisons of results, and characteristics such as updating, transparency, limitations and problems identified in their use. The findings, consistent with the consulted literature, suggest the recommendation of using more than one automated evaluator for broader coverage of accessibility issues. The tools Accessibility Insights for Web and Equal Access Accessibility Checker showed the best set of characteristics evaluated.
