Avaliação da funcionalidade de mulheres com endometriose através do teste de velocidade da marcha- um estudo piloto. 2022. 38f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Fisioterapia), Departamento de Fisioterapia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/50436Introduction: Endometriosis is a common disease that affects the female reproductive system and is defined as a chronic, estrogen-dependent inflammatory pathology, strongly related to progressive dysmenorrhea, dysuria, dyspareunia, in addition to important symptoms such as a feeling of heaviness in the lumbosacral region of the spine and legs. Thus, the presence of pain manifested in different ways will directly interfere with the decrease in the quality of life of women affected by endometriosis, considering that it significantly reflects functionality. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the functionality of individuals with endometriosis through the gait speed test. Methodology: This is an excerpt from a cross-sectional study in which 81 volunteers were divided into two groups: an endometriosis group (EG) containing 34 volunteers and a comparator group (CG) which included women who did not have a diagnosis of endometriosis, with 47 volunteers. All participants underwent an assessment containing anamnesis (Personal data, sociodemographic data), physical examination (Height, weight and calculation of body mass index, in addition to waist circumference) and functional examination in which the gait speed test was chosen. , widely used in different types of studies and different populations, as it is a safe, easy and quick measure. Results: The women in the endometriosis group were older, had more children, and had a higher BMI and waist circumference, but there was no statistical difference regarding age at menarche between the study groups. Regarding the evaluation of functionality through the gait speed test, it was possible to observe that women belonging to the endometriosis group had a longer test time compared to the comparator group (median values 5.11 and 4.00 respectively) showing statistical difference between groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: Our findings showed that women with endometriosis need more time to complete the gait speed test when compared to the group without the disease, that is, the functionality of these women is impaired, especially with regard to their gait.
