In the area of quality aims the creation of systems and processes that reduce the likelihood of errors and maximize the possibility of interception of the incidents before that these occur. The objective of the present study was to evaluate a panel of quality indicators in health and patient safety of a network of Federal University hospitals as quality management tool. We conducted a quasiexperimental study, like before and after, to assess the impact of a cycle of improvement in adherence to compliance with the quality criteria, in the period from October to March 2016 2018, which participated in 39 hospitals. 12 were built based on criteria documents that guide the national policy of patient safety and from the results obtained in the first assessment, interventions were implemented in the operational, tactical and strategic levels. The descriptive analysis showed that the pre-and post-intervention results showed positive differences with increased adhesion of the hospitals of the health quality indicators and patient safety. The indicators with fill significant improvements were: index falls, incidence of injury from pressure, joining the practice of hand hygiene by health professionals and rate of infection in surgical site clean surgery. Despite difficulties in deploying an instrument on national television, the quality indicators in health and patient safety has proved a useful tool in the management of university hospitals.
